TransitionZero becomes Program Partner to Climate Prosperity Plans Program of the V20 and CVF

London, UK, Tuesday 22nd November, 2022: The climate data non-profit TransitionZero has become a program partner for the Climate Prosperity Plans Program of the Vulnerable Twenty (V20) Group of Ministers of Finance of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF).

The V20 held a flagship event at COP27 and in a statement the Ghana and Sri Lanka Presidents called for accelerated access to liquidity and new investments in Climate Prosperity Plans (CPPs).

The V20 is a consortium of 58 nations from developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. The V20 is producing CCPs which aim to enhance resilience, grow the economy, create jobs and expand opportunities, using action on climate change as the catalyst.

As a program partner, TransitionZero is using its new energy systems model, Future Energy Outlook (FEO), to support the development of Climate Prosperity Plans for V20 members. The data from FEO more recently contributed to the CPPs for Ghana, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. TransitionZero will continue to support the development of other CPPs for V20 members in 2023 and beyond.

Sara Jane, Finance Advisor at V20, commented:

“TransitionZero’s technical support has been extremely helpful in the power system modelling aspects of the V20’s Climate Prosperity Plans for Ghana, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. We look forward to continuing to work together to enable a least cost power system by accelerating investments and technology access. I look forward to working with TransitionZero to develop plans for other V20 members”.

Matt Gray, Co-founder and CEO at TransitionZero, commented:

“I am thrilled that TransitionZero is supporting V20 members with the development of their Climate Prosperity Plans. We hope these plans will create a Paris-compliant data standard and unlock capital flows for V20 members who urgently need financial support to scale clean energy development”.
