TransitionZero joins IRENA-convened Global Coalition for Energy Planning
Partnership connects energy planning and finance communities to support national transition strategies
London, UK, 4 February 2026: TransitionZero has joined the Global Coalition for Energy Planning (GCEP), a multistakeholder initiative convened by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Launched at the first Energy Planning Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 2025, the coalition brings together governments, international organisations and technical partners working to strengthen country-owned energy planning ecosystems. By connecting the energy planning and finance communities, the coalition aims to help translate national energy transition goals into practical investment plans.
TransitionZero joins a network of partners, including the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER), the Open Energy Transition (OET) initiative, Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and VITO Belgium. Brazil is among the governments currently participating in the coalition.
As a partner, TransitionZero will contribute its expertise in open energy system modelling, data and analysis to support evidence-based planning and capacity building for national energy transition strategies.
Matt Gray, Co-founder and CEO of TransitionZero, said:
“Effective energy transition planning requires transparent data, credible modelling and collaboration across institutions. The Global Coalition for Energy Planning provides an important platform to strengthen country-led planning capacity and connect technical analysis with real-world investment decisions. We are pleased to contribute our open modelling tools and analysis to this effort.”
