TransitionZero appoints Fiona Howarth and Udit Gandhi to its Board of Trustees
TransitionZero is pleased to announce Fiona Howarth as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees, alongside Udit Gandhi, who joins the Board as a trustee.
London, UK - TransitionZero, a climate analytics not-for-profit, is pleased to announce Fiona Howarth as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees, alongside Udit Gandhi, who joins the Board as a trustee.
As TransitionZero scales up its mission to make energy-system modelling accessible, transparent and widely used, Fiona and Udit bring complementary expertise that will help guide the organisation’s strategic growth and deepen its impact.
Fiona Howarth is the founder and former CEO of Octopus Electric Vehicles, making the transition to electric vehicles easier for consumers and businesses. She brings expertise in sustainable business, energy markets, and policy, having also held roles at AlertMe (later Hive at British Gas), BMW, and the UK Department for Energy & Climate Change. Fiona will contribute her experience in scaling consumer-facing climate solutions to support TransitionZero's work with governments, investors, and organisations advancing just and equitable energy transitions.
Udit Gandhi joins the board as a seasoned infrastructure investment specialist with deep knowledge of energy, digital, and transportation assets. As a Partner, he has led multi-disciplinary due diligence teams, advising leading funds and corporates on complex global transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestments, and large-scale refinancings. With professional experience spanning Europe, the Americas, and Asia, Udit brings an international perspective to TransitionZero's engagement with global partners and stakeholders.
“I'm delighted to welcome Fiona and Udit to our board. Their energy, financial and entrepreneurial experience at Octopus and Deloitte will be invaluable as we scale our work worldwide,” said Matt Gray, Co-Founder & CEO of TransitionZero.
“With Udit and Fiona on board, I’m confident we’ll accelerate our impact – helping more countries and stakeholders build credible, investable pathways to clean energy,” Gray added.
Fiona Howarth commented on her appointment:
“Renewable energy is now low cost and viable - but it has got stuck in legacy, archaic planning systems. In fact, there is 3 Terrawatts of new projects just waiting for the green light - enough to power 63,000 countries the size of the UK.
TransitonZero’s products put cutting-edge modelling in the hands of global decision-makers - accelerating affordable, equitable, energy available at a critical time. I’m delighted to be working with the team who are bringing the latest tech to democratise energy.”
Udit Gandhi commented on his appointment:
“Delivering a credible energy transition depends on decision-makers having access to transparent, granular and investable scenarios. TransitionZero’s Scenario Builder fills a critical gap by enabling governments, financiers and system planners to test pathways, understand trade-offs, and assess economic feasibility in a rigorous and practical way. As energy systems become more complex, tools like Scenario Builder are essential to turning climate ambition into bankable action. I’m delighted to be joining the Board at such a pivotal moment for the organisation.”
Coinciding with this announcement, Matt Gray and Fiona Howarth have co-authored a thought piece, ‘Planning for energy independence requires a software upgrade’, setting out the case for open, next-generation energy planning tools.
